Katie’s love for film and documentaries started when she first got behind the camera in the fourth grade for a school assignment in Los Angeles, CA. Her hunger for adventure won out after college, when Katie spent several years working as an outdoor guide in Costa Rica and Alaska. She returned to L.A. to develop her story chops on productions such as The Amazing Race. Her curiosity and desire to contribute to the places she traveled led her to get a Masters of International Affairs at Columbia University. She then spent almost a decade working on climate change mitigation and developing emissions reduction projects with the United Nations and the private sector. After living in Panama to manage an international climate change program for the UN, Katie returned to New York and to film. For the last ten years, she’s been producing, writing, and sometimes directing, character-led documentaries that aim to create empathy and maybe even social change. Her work has appeared on HBO, HULU, Amazon, YouTube and more.
